Kahaani, the flick that was being much awaited by the audiences after Vidya Balan’s The Dirty Picture turned a big hit in India and abroad, releases today. There were huge expectations from the viewers for this movie. Well, they are valid since one an actor does a brilliant job and the film gets hugely successful, the expectations from him or her becomes high. The same is the case with Vidya that viewers’ expectations are mammoth.

Balan does not spoil her fans’ expectations and does a big job in Kahaani as well. Sujoy Ghosh, who made a hit Jhankaar Beats in 2003 then his following flicks like Home Delivery (2005) and Aaladin (2009) turned flop, returns with Kahaani. In Aladin, he even took the like of Amitabh Bachchan, nonetheless the film did not work out at the box office.

But in Kahaani, there are big expectations for a big business at the box office with only Vidya Balan being the prominent name in the film. Vidya is now a powerful Bollywood hero who can carry the film on her shoulders.

Sujoy Ghosh is a marvelous storyteller and he puts the goods on screen with brilliance. The audience does not get bored even for a moment and that is the beauty of the movie.

Vidya Bagchi (Vidya Balan) arrives in Kolkata from London in search of her missing husband. A seven months pregnant, Vidya is all alone in the festive city. She tries hard to search the missing man but in vain. All try to convince her that he does not exist but she is not ready to believe it.

The story and the script are brilliant and the writers deserve the distinction marks for making this superb script. Cinematography is work of art and classy. Editing is crispy. Dialogues are worthy. Music by Vishal-Shekhar is melodious.

Vidya Balan once again delivers the goods supremely on screen. With this movie, she will again be fetching the awards for herself. The film too has potential to bag awards in various categories.

On the whole, Kahaani is a brilliant women-centric film with powerful script, performances and direction.

The music is out now and has been scored by Vishal-Shekhar. Lyrics for the album have been written by Vishal Dadlani, Anvita Dutt, Sandeep Srivastava and Clinton Cerejo.

Aami Shotti Bolchi (Singers: Usha Uthup and Shekhar Ravjiani)

The soundtrack begins with the song ‘Aami Shotti’ and attracts the souls from the beginning since it has the dose of Jazz that appeals to the ears. Usha Uthup appears to be the apt choice for this song and she sings it with class. Lyrics hold values and music is splendid and boisterous.

The track opens up with the classical ragas that soothe the souls. Javed Bashir allures the ears with his classically done vocals. Instruments in the background appeal and lyrics spell magic. Music is a treat.

The title track of the album features the singers KK and Vishal Dadlani both inject the sugary pleasures in singing. The track is beautiful both lyrically and musically.

Shreya hits the space and snatches the hearts with her spongy and classy singing. Vishal too impresses with his part. Lyrics are worthwhile and so is music.

Sukhwinder renders the song with super ease. The lyrics of the song are appealing but the music disappoints and makes the song drastic and unpleasurable.

The soundtrack ends up with Amitabh Bachcahn’s recital of Rabindarnath Tagore’s poetic verse. He does the job as usual fine with his baritone voice.

The film is expected to hit the hearts of the people. Since Vidya’s star power is on high these days, the film will get the edge for sure. The makers this time around took a good style of promoting the film by asking Vidya to go directly among the people. The pregnant Vidya with baby bump went into the masses at Khar Station in Mumbai where the people turned around her in endless amount. It was a scene to see. She was surrounded by the people. Vidya emerged there as her character of film Vidya Bagchi who was seeking her husband there. She was holding the picture of her missing husband and was on way to search her. This style of promotion appealed to the people and undoubtedly registered good impact on the minds of the people. The film is expected to hit the screens soon.

Synopsis:

Kahaani talks about a woman (Vidya Balan) who is six months pregnant who heads to search her missing husband. This is what happens that all of a sudden under mysterious circumstances, her husband gets missing. The woman then fastens the belts being six months pregnant to search her missing man. In her journey to find his husband, she comes across a number of hardships. Whether she finds her man or not, this is what the story forms and makes it interesting for the audiences.

Kahaani is a frantic, heart-­wrenching and laced with suspense story of a pregnant woman who does beyond her capacities to search her missing husband.

The film is slated for release all over on January 20^th 2012. Vidya Balan starts getting to be projected hugely for this film, which is different from the routine masala movies and her another upcoming, ‘The Dirty Picture’ too has been making her much popular. This all puts her on the list of the leading Bollywood heroines
