Anurag Kashyup’s much in talks and much awaited flick ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ is slated for release in India and around the world on June 22nd, 2012. The film was screened in the recently held Cannes Film Festival where it was super appreciated and the film got many accolades from the audiences over there. Post Cannes, the film’s liking has developed much higher among the Indians and they are desperately waiting for the release of the film which will happen by the end of this month of June.
Produced by Anurag Kashyup and Sunil Bohra, the film has been written by Zeishan Qadri, Ahilesh, Sachin Ladia and Anurag Kashyup. Sneha Khanwalker has given the music for the film’s album. The movie stars Manoj Bajpai, Jaideep Ahlawat, Nawazuudin Siddique and Rema Sen in the lead.
The end of the colonial India and the focus is poured on Shahid Khan (Jaideep Ahlawat) who loots the British trains by pretending to be Sultana Daku. Now being in exile, Shahid turns out to be the worker at the colliery at Ramadhir Singh just to encourage the revenge fight going on generations. Decade turns and Shahid’s son Sardar Khan (Manoj Bajpai) now swears to bring his father’s honor back. He turns out to be the most terrororized man of Wasseyopur. The film stays utterly true to its real life influences and reveals the vengeance story through socio-political ways happening in Bihar and Wasseypur’s scrap and trade mafia. What happens next is what ignites the interest quotient for the viewers.
