A not well promoted film ‘Fatso’ releases to entice the moviegoers but does it do so? For the answer, read on the review. Rajat Kapoor, the fine actor and the filmmaker, is the one whose acting and filmmaking qualities are always applauded and loved. He is simply an intelligent man and his intelligence is quite shown in his cinematic works. He needs to introduction and bigger words for his praise – his works speak up by themselves.

He directs and writes this flick that stars Ranvir Shorey, Purab Kohli and Gul Panag in main leads. The film’s story talks about that as a result of celestial gaffe, a boy gets killed in a road accident earlier than his time on earth has finished off. He lands in heaven where he then gets bestowed with another opportunity to land on earth but in some other body. Well, by reading so, you must have reached at the conclusion that the plot is not new at all rather we have witnessed it many a time before in some Hollywood movies and even in few Hindi films as well such as Jhuk Gaya Aasman (1967).

Both Nandini (Gul Panag) and Navin (Purab Kohli) are all set to tie the knot but before they get married, a disaster happens in their life. Navin and his pals – an overweight Sudeep (Ranvir Shorey) and Yash (Neil Bhoopalam) go out for the celebrations. But they face an accident which results in the death of Navin. Navin then wakes up in heaven where he comes to know that due to the clerical error he landed in heaven. He demands to be returned to earth again.

The film is about how Navin returns to earth and after landing how he once again begins wooing his girl Nandini all over again in other guise?

The story is not novel and the script is the biggest flaw of the movie. It is laced with many holes which make the movie a big lackluster. The execution is good. Rajat Kapoor is the man behind the writing of this flick. Both Rajat Kapoor and Saurabh Shukla put the minds together to write the narrative of the movie. But their efforts go waste as the script is the biggest weakness of the movie. Cinematography is okay. Editing is not fine. Music has no scope in the film and is pretty ordinary.

Ranvir Shorey is great to watch. He attracts with his part. Gul Panag is a great actress. Purab Kohli in brief role impresses. Neil Bhoopalam lures the souls. Remaining stars too loot the scene.

On the whole, Fatso is a boring film, which should be avoided.

Rating: 1/5
