samir chandaTop Notch Bollywood Art Director Samir Chanda passed away on Thursday just a few hours after taking ill due to a drug reaction. Samir Chanda was not only a top Art Director but was also known to be a very down to earth person. He was well known for some amazing art work in films such as Rang De Basanti and Delhi 6 and many more.

Samir Chanda was a close friend of Bollywood’s showman Subhash Ghai. Reacting to the sudden demise of his dear friend Subhash Ghai said "I am shocked. Samir Chanda did Kisna and Black & White with me. He was also a teacher at an acting school. He was polite, artistic, innovative and dedicated. He was a great art director, always loving and smiling. He was indeed a man of integrity. This is a great loss to us."

Mahesh Bhatt also recalled Samir Chanda’s contribution, "I am reminded of his smile. His simplicity and passion for details. He was a warm man with a great passion for detail."

The whole Bollywood Industry will truly reflect on what more Samir Chanda’s magical contribution would be if he hadn’t been snatched away at 54 years of age. Our deepest Condolences are with the Chanda family in this moment of grief.
