Ram Gopal Verma’s latest release Department, which saw the day of light on this Friday, appeared the lowest opener at the box office of 2012. The film as per the reports made Rs. 2.5 crores (nett) on the opening day. The collections on the opening day for Ramu’s Department were much less that it got its place as the lowest box office opener of 2012. Previously this title was with Priyadarshan’s Ajay Devgan and Anil Kapoor starrer ‘Tezz’. Now they are happy that Ram Gopal Verma’s much hyped film ‘Department’ broke its record.

Ramu made the biggest hype for the film to make it happening among the crowds. He used all the right and available sources for the promotional activities of the film such as he used the hot item number fashion in the movie, he used the different style of song ‘Sanjay Dutt’s tribute to Big B with Thodi Si Jo Pe Li Hai’, and then so many other things. But at last all his efforts went in vain and he had to face the disappointment at the box office. This shows that the movies do not run with the star power but with the content. Department carries the big starcast like Amitabh Bachchan and Sanjay Dutt but since its content was not strong, the film faced the failure at the box office. The bad reviews from the critics further are decreasing the worth of the movie because the movie buffs are now not ready to spend the money on the product which is not interesting no matter if it has Amitabh Bachchan and Sanjay Dutt.
