Saif Ali Khan’s production in which he also acts the main lead opposite two beautiful and sexiest ladies – Deepika Padukone and Diana Penty, Cocktail had excellent opening. At the multiplexes of the big cities, its business has been superb whereas the multiplexes of other cities too witnessed good and handsome business. At the single screens, the business seemed lower but the release over there was also limited. The reports for the film’s business have been mixed but the multiplexes’ business gave it boost and should continue giving so.

The film has potential to hit the hearts and the story and the performances of the stars will certainly bring in more audiences at the ticket window. Deepika Padukone’s bikini scene too has been on way to attract the viewers plus the trendy look of the movie and the lively subject would add more sparkles to film’s business.

Bol Bachchan, Rohit Shetty’s film, keeps on fetching more and more business for the movie. The first week’s collections has been around 60 crore nett. On the eight day, the movie witnessed a bit drop due to Cocktail’s release but over the weekend – Saturday and Sunday, the film picked up the business once again.

Bol Bachchan is the flick which will keep bringing in more lucrative business for the makers and the investors of the movie.

Gangs of Wasseypur made the collection of 2.50 crore in third week making its total business as 26.75 crore nett. The movie is a below average saga all the way.

Ajay Devgn, Abhishek Bachchan, Asin and Prachi Desai’s comic caper Bol Bachchan opened decently in international circuit. It received handsome opening overseas as around $2 million. The flick has big potential to make $4 million lifetime if its business sustains in the market. UAE showed good business for the film since the market likes comedies a lot. In other markets, the film also made good business. Check out the collections from the major markets of the world.

UK - £160,000

USA - $560,000

UAE - $600,000

Australia - $160,000

Kunal Kohli’s directed venture and Shahid Kapoor and Priyanka Chopra starrer Teri Meri Kahaani has not been making good business in overseas market. The movie will reportedly and expectedly finish off with average business of around $2.65 million. There were huge expectations for good business for the movie prior to release. The makers were pretty sure and Kunal Kohli was showing his higher expectations from the movie but all went in vain. Although the film’s storyline is unique, but the audiences did not approve it at all.

Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s production and Sharman Joshi starrer Ferrrai Ki Sawaari too has been decent in terms of box office business in international market. The film made decent collections of $1.2 million.

Let’s wait to see the results of Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone and Diana Penty starrer Cocktail in international circuit. The film opened well in India. For overseas collections, let’s wait to be collected. They will be dished out here once arrive.

Overseas Box Office has not been well for the latest Bollywood releases except Vidya Balan’s Kahaani which has been doing fair business. The film grossed around $700,000 in the opening weekend, which is quite a decent start. The major markets’ collections are as under:

UK - £70,000

America - $260,000

UAE - $200,000

Australia - $55,000

It is being expected that the film will continue churning out good business in overseas circuit. With its gripping storyline and marvelous performance by Vidya Balan, the movie is potentially a good business fetcher. The likes of Amitabh Bachchan too is on way to verbally market the film by appreciating the skills of the director and script writer Sujoy Ghosh with whom Bachchan did Aladdin. In Kahaani, Amitabh also read out a poem of Rabindarnath Tagore that is being liked a lot by the music and movie lovers.

Ali Zafar and Aditi Rao Hydari’s romantic saga London Paris New York finished with the collections of $600,000 and for this business all credit goes to Pakistan and UAE markets. Other international markets have been quite low for this film’s business. From Pakistan it made good business since Ali Zafar belongs to the land and the citizens supported him by turning into the theaters. The film is a FLOP overall.

Ritiesh Deshmukh and his wife Genelia D’SOUZA’S Tere Naal Love Hogaya ended up the wit the entire collections of $800,000. It is BELOW AVERAGE. The recent releases could not ignite any spark for the viewers residing abroad.

Domestic Box Office: All latest releases fell flat shows cancelled

Posted on 19 Mar 2012 at 5:28am

Many films released this Friday – around six movies came out to hit the screens and all were low-budgeted movies. Akkad Bakkad Bambe Bo, Chaurahen, Anjunaa Beach, Love Possible, Zindagi Tere Naam and Say Yes to Love released this Friday. They all fell badly at the box office with super poor results. No business was seen for them since they did not find any audience. The reports say that most shows got cancelled since there was no viewer to watch the film. The cinemas were utterly empty and silence was vividly seen so the shows had to be cancelled.

Not a single film among all of them has potential to fetch in the viewers. The makers and the investors are super worried as to how they would recover their amount. It is a big loss of money invested in the production and distribution of these films.

Tusshar Kapoor and Kulraj Randhawa’s comedy ‘Chaar Din Ki Chandi’ made the collection of just 5 crores (nett) in its first week. It is a big FLOP.

Vidya Balan’ Kahaani made around 23 crores (nett) in its first week’s collections. The film is going great. In metros, the eighth day collections appeared super excellent. The film is termed as HIT. It is being said that it will emerge as a SUPERHIT.

Ali Zafar and Aditi Rao Hydari’s London Paris New York has not been doing well at the box office since the outset and its collections now dropped to biggest 85-90 percent in second week. It is a FLOP.

Irrfan Khan’s Paan Singh Tomar has been going steadily strong. In its second week, the film picked up the business making 4 crores nett. The total turned out to be 10.50 crores nett.

Tusshar Kapoor and Kulraj Randhawa’s comic caper Chaar Din Ki Chandni opened with very poor results at the box office. The Friday opening was around 15-20% - few of the centres in North and Gujrat witnessed some better results otherwise the film did not see any good business and disappointed the makers and the film investors.

Vidya Balan’s much in talks film ‘Kahaani’, that is on way to collect good reviews and the likings from the audiences, has been on way to make good collections. The movie opened with decent earnings and enticed the investors. Some of the multiplexes had more than 40% opening. Kahaani collected Rs 2.95 on its first day collections whereas the movie made the collections of Rs. 4.5 crores till Saturday. The Sunday’s collections will tell the exact figures. The movie is doing great.

London Paris New York, a film by Goldie Behl and stars Ali Zafar (Pakistani singer-actor) and Aditi Rao Hydari, collected Rs. 5.50 nett in first week and the movie’s collection appeared much low on 8th day. The film is FLOP.

Irrfan Khan starrer Paan Singh Tomar has been going steadily on the box office. In its first week, the film collected decent figure of Rs. 7.50 crores (nett).

Bipasha Basu and R. Madhavan starrer Jodi Breakers made Rs. 1.50 crores (nett) in its second week. The total collections of total two weeks are 9.75 crores (nett). It’s a FLOP.

Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya, Riteish Deshmukh and Genelia D’ Souza starrer, made Rs. 5.50 crores (nett) in week two and the total two weeks’ collections are Rs. 17.50 cores (nett). ABOVE AVERAGE.

Ali Zafar and Aditi Rao Hydari’s London Paris New York, where did nit ignite the liking inside the audiences to come and watch the film in India, also did not work rather went below te belt in international market. The film collected $350,000. In Pakistan, the figures are impressive and the main reason is Ali Zafar who is a famed Pakistani singer-actor. The viewers there supported him but in India and internationally neither was he supported nor were Aditi Rao or Goldie Behl (the film’s producer) supported at all. In the UK and US markets, the film did not turn with good earnings. It’s FLOP.

Irrfan Khan’s Paan Singh Tomar, where it has been doing decent and steady business back home in India, did not turn fruitful for the makers and investors in international circuit. The film turned dull with poor collections of $50,000 in international market.

Ritiesh Deshmukh and Genelia D’S Souza, though the film opened with average results starte doing better in India by turning above average, began alluring the international audiences now. The film did an alluring business of $700,000 in 10 days. The makers and the investors have started feeling relaxed and happy now with the results from international circuits. The major market’s results are as under:

United Kingdom - £155,000

USA- $155,000

UAE - $150,000

Australia - $60,000

It is being expected that Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya will continue making good in overseas and the same is being expected in India market for the movie.

Box Office India reports are not dashing this time around since all the movie released on Friday were poor and opened with poor responses from the audiences. Box office reports from the multiplexes and cinema halls have been very down the belt – poor in ‘one’ word.

Ali Zafar and Aditi Rao Hydari’s London Paris New York, which was quite well in town and the publicity was done heavily for the movie, did nothing and nothing could allure the viewers to come out to watch this fiesta targeted to the youth. The film opened to 10-15 percent response. Irrfan Khan’s flick ‘Paan Singh Tomar’, a biopic too could not generate any kind of oomph among the audiences despite having good reviews from the critics. The film opened to 10 percent response.

Will You Marry Me, despite having a comic subject and the likes of Shreyas Talpade who is considered to be a good comedy actor, turned super mundane as far as collections are concerned. It opened to 0-5 percent response.

Among all of these films, Paan Singh Tomar has potential to make some business at the ticketing windows. It is undoubtedly the best movie that is well written and executed. And a slight improvement at the box office was also seen as the days progressed.

In its first week, R. Madhavan and Bipasha Basu’s Jodi Breakers turned flop – it made around 8 crores business in its first week and fell heavily in week two.

Ritiesh Deshmukh and Genelia D’ Souza’s Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya witnessed a steady week after a low start.

Bipasha Basu and R. Madhavan’s Jodi Breakers could not ignite any kind of magic in the hearts of the moviegoers residing in overseas circuit. The film just made the collections of around $225,000. UAE market proved to be the best for the flick. Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya, Ritiesh and Genelia’s film too could not make any good mark in international market despite their actual marriage. The marriage could not bring the viewers into theaters as was being expected. The film collected around $450,000. It also opened in 175 cinemas – nonetheless business was not good at all. But it did best in the UK market. Collections from the major international markets are as follows:

United Kingdom - £80,000

USA - $95,000

UAE - $95,000

Australia - $33,000

Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor starrer ‘Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu’ has been on way to make good business for the makers and investors. The film has been going on steadily in terms of business and that is the good thing for the makers who keep on pocketing the bucks.

The film’s so far business in international market is as follows:

United Kingdom - £575,000

USA - $1,130,000

UAE - $775,000

Australia - $210,000

For Jodi Breakers and Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya, improvement can hardly happen. Bips does not have potential to get the viewers to come and watch Jodi Breakers. Her pairing with R. Madhavan was not approved by the audiences else this sex babe can bring viewers in cinema halls.

Ekk Deewana Tha, which was being expected to hit the bigger jackpot due to being the remake of Tamil superhit and then the scripting of Javed Akhtar and music of Oscar winner A R Rahman, could not do well at the box office in India and overseas. The film was beaten out very badly by the viewers who did not approve it at all. The rumor mills and the gossips of the affair of the leading players – Prateik Babbar and Amy Jackson – all did not help the movie to get good business at BO. Even the film could not make average business in both home and international market.

Karan Johar’s Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu, which opened good in India and abrod, starring Imaran Khan and Kareena Kapoor did supremely well in overseas market. It is very close to the mark of $4 million business in international circuit. The 10 days business for the film from the major international circuits is as follows:

United Kingdom (UK) - £530,000

USA - $1,025,000

UAE - $725,000

Australia - $195,000

Karan Johar’s another mega hit Agneepath has been on way to allure the hearts of the people. The film still keeps on igniting the success flame in international markets. Hrithik Roshan and Sanjay Dutt starrer collected $6 million and in North America it will hit the mark of $2 million. The business of Agneepath from the major international circuits is as follows:

United Kingdom (UK) - £725,000

USA - $1,975,000

UAE - $1,400,000

Australia - $460,000

Friday releases – Jodi Breakers and Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya opened to much poor openings. Both the movies gave very poor business to the makers and investors. The results were no encouraging rather much below the belts. The verdict is that both will be struggling to stay at the theatres.

Jodi Breakers opened to around 20% opening. The opening day and the following days were laced with the audiences which were hardly to view. The ticketing windows were empty awaiting for the viewers to come. The critics even rated this movie good nonetheless the viewers did not turn up. The fact behind might be the pairing of Bipasha and Madhavan since Madhavan is not a leading Bollywood actor and is seen playing the second or third lead in the movies here in Bollywood.

Tere Naal Love Ho Gaya too opened to around 20% response. In few cities of Punjab, the movie witnessed somewhat good business due to the presence of a famed Punjabi vocalist. The movie did not see any kind of improvement on the opening day and the following days so far. The film was being expected to hit the jackpot due to the marriage of Ritiesh Deshmukh and Genelia D’ Souza but people did not give it any importance.

Ekk Deewana Tha turned flop since it had a poor week by grossing around 4 crores (nett).

Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu too dropped badly in second week and grossed 6.75 crores (nett) and total business is around 37.50 crores (nett).
