Overseas box office reports for Players have not been well again. The film has been on way to drop. The presence of Abhishek Bachchan, Bipasha Basu and Sonam Kapoor in the movie could not generate the likings among the cinegoers who simply made the film a big flop not only in India but also in international market.
Players grossed around $1.5 million. The figures taken from the major overseas market are as follows:
England - £192,000
Pakistan - $600,000
USA - $310,000
UAE - $360,000
Australia - $80,000
In Pakistan, Shah Rukh Khan starrer Don 2 did the biggest business. It is said that Don 2 emerged as the second biggest collector in the market there. The total business of the movie was $11.75 million in overseas so far.
It is expected that Players will continue to be the biggest flop in the days to come. Abbas-Mustan’s lavish thriller made with the whopping amount has been emerging quite dropping contrary to the expectations. The makers and the cast were pretty sure of the success but they could not see their dream come true as the film fell badly at the box office.
Shah Rukh Khan’s Don 2 has been adding bucks and bucks to the total figure. Khan is pretty excited with the success and so is the maker Farhan Akhtar. Shah Rukh even bagged the Best Actor (Jury) award for Don 2 at recently held Zee Cine Awards 2012 in Macau. The film also got the Best Action Award there.
Last Friday, there was no main release of any Hindi film. But from previous Friday, the releases like Chaalis Chauraasi, Ghost, Sadda Adda and Tutiya Dil all were biggest disasters at the box office.
Chaalis Chauraasi and Ghost both witnessed the poor first week collections and both made the poor collections of Rs. 2.50 crore nett mark. Although Naseeeruddin Shah, Ravi Kisen and Atul Kulkarni starrer movie was admired by the critics, but the film could not generate any oomph value in the hearts of the viewers. The audiences simply dropped this film from their to-do list. Film carries the good storyline and well delivered performances by the great stars, but when the audience was not ready you cannot do anything. Customer is the king always.
Shiney Ahuja’s Ghost was targeted as the hooror film but the film rather appeared as a funny flick. People went to watch it but the ones who watched found it super funny rather than being a horror movie though they conveyed it to others and eventually the film’s business dropped badly. Shiney’s comeback vehicle flopped baldy.
Sadda Adda has nonetheless managed to make in few theaters.
Abhishek Bachchan, Bobby Deol, Sikandar Kher, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Bipasha Basu and Sonam Kapoor starrer and Abbas-Mustan’s directed thriller continued dropping at the box office. It was a big flop and in week two, it made around 4.25 crore nette. Total two week’s business was around 25.75 crore nett. A big disaster.
Don 2 continued adding bucks and added 1.50 crore nett in its fourth week collections. The total made as 104.75 crore nett in Hindi version only. It is a hit.
